Follow Friday #11 / Book Blogger Hop #14


How many books do you read in a week? What format are they in?

Well, this varies from week to week for me, depending on what other stuff I have on. The past two weeks I've only finished a couple of books as I've had an editing job that has taken up all my evenings.
On average though, I'd say I read 2-3 books a week. I used to read only in print (hardbacks and paperbacks), but I got an ereader three months ago and now I read e-books too...

What book to movie adaptation have you liked the most? Which have you disliked the most?

My favourite has to be Lord of the Rings. I think they did a great job bringing those books to life on the big screen. Some fans moaned about things that were missing, but I think they nailed it with what they kept in and what they had to leave out.

There have sadly been a lot of bad adaptations and it is hard to pick, but one that stands out is the awful version of Les Miserables with Liam Neeson. Cringe-worthy and major characters just left out entirely!

    LOR is a great choice! Those are great films. I haven't seen the screen adaptation of Les Mis but I'll be sure to run away LOL.

    I agree 100% on Les Miserables. That movie was a tragic waste of both Liam Neeson and Geoffrey Rush. I was appalled at the ending because it was such a blatant misuse of the text and because I couldn't stand the fact that Valjean smiled as he walked away. He just saw a man die; I doubt the Valjean from the book would have ever smiled at that, regardless of the reason.

    I agree that LoTR is a pretty good adaptation of the books, especially since they are so epic in their scale. Some things Peter Jackson chose to leave out I completely agreed with. I'm immensely relieved I didn't have to sit through Tom Bombadill on the big-screen.

    Great to meet you. I'm new to your blog. Great post! My favorite at the moment...hmm. Now that's a toughy. One of the first that comes to mind is The Jester. LOVE that story. Don't have an ereader yet. Do all mine on paper still. =)
