This was a book with a great premise but, for me, it just didn't quite deliver. My main concern was that, with an 'eco' theme, it would be preach-y. It turns out my fears on that score were unfounded, but there were other things that put me off.
I really never connected with Kaitlyn. I found some of her actions and reactions unbelievable and her relationships with the other characters felt a tad rushed. The plot had some great moments and yet in between those moments there were points when things were glossed over and other times when the pace slowed too much for my liking.
Even so, I am still giving this book three stars. It may not have done it for me, but the premise was original and there were some good things in the writing that I hope the author can build on in future works.
Check it out if you are looking for a fantasy series with something new to say.
