The story of Son is a short story in the same style as the Black Dagger Brotherhood. It is written by JR Ward. A typical Ward preternatural romance with humans and vampires, and doggen. (Goodreads Synopsis)

I picked up a sale copy of this book as I am always looking for ways to get in more language practice.
I managed to read the whole thing without having to resort to the dictionary, so I was happy with that.

As to the story itself, this was an okay novella. The plot was interesting and caught my attention and I didn't mind the characters, even though their 'love' felt a bit forced and unnaturally fast to me. My main gripe, though, was the ending, which seemed a little abrupt, the 'bad' guy' defeated too easily.

In this story the 'Son' has been imprisoned by his mother who brings him a woman to feed from once a year. When she brings Claire, the pair fall in love and plot to escape together.

Overall an okay short read to pass the time, but not one I'd be clamouring to read again.
