The stranger silently summoned her from across the continents, across the seas. He whispered of eternal torment, of endless hunger...of dark, dangerous desires. And somehow American surgeon Shea O'Halloran could feel his anguish, sense his haunting aloneness, and she ached to heal him, to heal herself.

Drawn to the Carpathian mountains, Shea found a ravaged, raging man, a being like no other, and she trembled. In his burning eyes, his icy heart, she recognized the beloved stranger who'd already become a part of her. This Carpathian made had compelled Shea to his side. But was she to be his healer...or his prey? His victim...or his mate? Was he luring her into madness...or would his dark desire make her whole?
(Goodreads Synopsis)

Dark Desire was a good read but, as with Dark Prince that I have read previously, I found it hard to relate to and care about Feehan's overly alpha males. I just find them too demanding and absolute to really spark any interest in me and while Feehan tries to make the women strong and able to stand up to the men, in the end desire always wins out and they submit at least partly. Something about that just doesn't gel with me and it puts me off her otherwise fine stories.

Still, if male dominance rocks your boat, this would be a good series to try. Just a warning, though, that it should be considered 18+ due to some of the sex scenes.
