A budding poet and his adoring mother are the central characters of this early Kundera novel. (Goodreads Synopsis)
This is yet another perfect novel from Kundera. Like all his works, Life is Elsewhere manages to convey a sense of lyricism and unreality, while at the same time being so immediate and 'real'. Kundera often expresses ideas and feelings in his novels that I can relate to myself, and so, to me, the stories always feel personal. I have gradually been working my way through Kundera's publications, and will continue to do so until I have read them all. He is one of my favourite modern authors.
