Rainbow Snippet - 31 July 2016 - From "Wish You Were Here"

Today is my first time joining Rainbow Snippets, and I thought I would share a few lines from my MM novella Wish You Were Here. Dreamspinner Press contracted this story a few weeks ago and it will release in early 2017. It is about Oakley, whose family threatens to break apart following the tragic death of his sister, but then they go on an enforced family holiday where he meets local boy Bobby....

“You want to hide out? That’s easy. Follow me.” Bobby took a step back and ran at tree. He pushed off from the trunk and caught the bough from which he’d swung a few moments before. He pulled himself up to sit upon it, before getting to his feet on the wide branch and reaching for the one above. He paused and looked down at Oakley. “You coming? There’s plenty of room for two.”
Oakley assessed the branch. Tree climbing wasn’t an everyday activity for him, but how hard could it be?
