Weekend Blog Hops - 1 March 2019

It's the weekend once more. That means it's time for my book-blogger hopping.

Have you made the switch from print to eBooks?
For me, it's about 50/50 these days. I still love print, and I buy print books if they are classics, reference works, or by my favourite authors--ones I know I'll want to keep in the longterm. However, I get 90% of my ARCs as eBooks, and I also use eBooks as a cheaper way to try new-to-me authors and indie authors. Also, a few classics and older works simply aren't in print anymore, but you can get them as eBooks from places such as Project Gutenberg.

She was fast asleep on the back seat of the bus.

From page 56:
I would endure ten of the winters of my childhood, ten in a row with no summer between them, if it meant that I could keep Pamela by my side.

My Current Read
We Must Be Brave
Frances Liardet

December, 1940. As German bombs fall on Southampton, the city’s residents flee to the surrounding villages. In Upton village, amid the chaos, newly-married Ellen Parr finds a girl sleeping, unclaimed at the back of an empty bus. Little Pamela, it seems, is entirely alone.

Ellen has always believed she does not want children, but when she takes Pamela into her home the child cracks open the past Ellen thought she had escaped and the future she and her husband Selwyn had dreamed for themselves. As the war rages on, love grows where it was least expected, surprising them all. But with the end of the fighting comes the realization that Pamela was never theirs to keep

A story of courage and kindness, hardship and friendship,
We Must be Brave explores the fierce love we feel for our children and the astonishing power of that love to endure.

  7. Yes, I agree with your observation that certain classics are no longer in print and can be found through Project Gutenberg.

I also subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, making it is so much easier to give new authors a try and even find those who are lesser known.

    1. Yes. I don't have a Kindle myself (I use a Sony e-reader) but I know a lot of people enjoy using Kindle Unlimited.
