It's the weekend once more. That means it's time for my book-blogger hopping.
If you could take the place of any fictional character, who would it be and why?
That's a tough one, because there are so many I could choose, depending on my mood. Therefore, I will just go with the first that comes to mind: Adele in the Vampire Empire series, because she kicks ass and gets to date a vampire. If you could take the place of any fictional character, who would it be and why?
Opening sentence:
The funeral is supposed to be a quiet affair, for the deceased had no friends.
From page 56:
In daylight, it now seems ridiculous, but the rules of this house are written in water. I must either sink or swim, Nella thinks.
Jessie Burton
On an autumn day in 1686, eighteen-year-old Nella Oortman arrives at a grand house in Amsterdam to begin her new life as the wife of wealthy merchant Johannes Brandt. Though curiously distant, he presents her with an extraordinary wedding gift; a cabinet-sized replica of their home. It is to be furnished by an elusive miniaturist, whose tiny creations ring eerily true.
As Nella uncovers the secrets of her new household, she realises the escalating dangers they face. The miniaturist seems to hold their fate in her hands - but does she plan to save or destroy them?
