Tomorrow is Leap Year. Name one book being released in 2020 that you would prefer to skip.
Generally, I only pay attention to forthcoming releases of books that interest me. But now I've said that, I think the next book in YA series Forgotten Empires by Jeffe Kennedy is out soon. I wasn't overly impressed with book one, so I won't be reading book two.
Opening sentence:
In the deep wilds of the north, there is a Shrine cut into the mountainside.
From page 56:
She had begun to feel so clever and knowledgeable lately, getting good at swordplay and conjugations, but she had managed to miss this completely.
A. K. Larkwood
What if you knew how and when you will die?
Csorwe does. She will climb the mountain, enter the Shrine of the Unspoken, and gain the most honored title: sacrifice. On the day of her foretold death, however, a powerful mage offers her a new fate.
Csorwe leaves her home, her destiny, and her god to become the wizard's loyal sword-hand -- stealing, spying, and killing to help him reclaim his seat of power in the homeland from which he was exiled.
But Csorwe and the wizard will soon learn – gods remember, and if you live long enough, all debts come due.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit, Laurel.
DeleteI've become a very picky reader - hence my low number of DNFs - so rather than any particular 2020 release that I'd avoid reading this year, there will be whole genres and hundreds of books that I could list. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy what's left of the weekend, Nicki.
Here's my BBH Post
