The eight close-knit siblings of the Bridgerton family look for love and happiness in London high society. Inspired by Julia Quinn's bestselling novels. (Netflix Synopsis)

I enjoyed this second season of Bridgerton more than the first, perhaps because I found Anthony's tale of romance more compelling than that of Daphne from last season. This season's storyline had a very Pride and Prejudice-esque feel to the narrative (complete with a Colin Firth-inspired wet shirt after the Viscount falls into a lake!) and I found those character arcs interesting to watch. The historical inaccuracies in costume and ballroom music etc. still bug me a little, but I have tried to overcome them by viewing the show as alternate-history, rather than a straight period drama, and that helps curb my irritation over the wrong corsets or characters dancing to a Madonna track. It helps that the show does present a wonderful story and excellent performances from its cast members and is highly entertaining. I am giving this second season 4.5 stars, which I will round up, rather than down.
