TV Review: Crawcow Monsters (2022) (Fantasy)

A young woman haunted by her past joins a mysterious professor and his group of gifted students who investigate paranormal activity — and fight demons. (Netflix Synopsis)

Cracow Monsters has a very slow start, so you do need to bear with it for a while before the action truly kicks off. Once it does, this is an okay dark fantasy series. It was interesting to see the Slavic-folklore-based monsters/creatures. The cast performed well, and the special effects looked fine. However, I never felt fully invested in the show and often ending up checking my phone and doing other things while watching. That was helped by the fact that Polish is close enough to Czech that I could understand basic sentences without looking up at the subtitles. But it also reflects the fact that you could miss a few moments yet easily pick up what was happening again. If you love dark fantasy and want something a little different from the usual fare, it's worth a glance, but it's not one I would ever re-watch, and it gets 3.5 stars from me.
