I think Spider-Man: No Way Home is a movie that works better for fans than the general viewer. I say this because, when I watched it with my husband last night, we ended up with very different opinions. He described it as a 'boring love-fest', whereas, while it's not one of my all-time favourite MCU movies, I found it entertaining. However, a lot of my enjoyment came from the intertextual references relating to the previous (pre-MCU) Spider-Man movies. My husband didn't know all that stuff--I had to explain who people were and what was happening for him--so he missed out on that level of enjoyment, which is perhaps why it fell flat for him. I am giving this movie 4.5 stars. However, if you plan to watch it, I think you will get more from it if you are first familiar with the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies.
