During the Japanese colonial period, married playwright Kim U-jin falls in love with soprano Yun Sim-deok, one of Korea’s notable New Women. (Netflix Synopsis)

Hymn of Death was an interesting drama, not least because it is based on true events. It was fairly slow paced, but since it is only three episodes in total, I didn't find that a major problem. I enjoyed the performances offered by the cast, and the series had a pleasing look and feel. Watching this made me interested in learning more about the real historical figures; however, information in English appears hard to come by, so any such exploration will have to wait until my Korean has vastly improved. If you enjoy emotional historical drama, this is well worth checking out, especially as it is only 3 hours long. It gets four stars from me.
