My Secret Romance was an amusing series. The plot is trope-filled and predictable, but fun because of, rather than in spite of, that. I enjoyed the performances from the cast and there were plenty of hilarious and entertaining moments, as well as lots of cute and sweet ones. This series ran for 14 episodes, each around 45-50 mins, compared to most K-dramas which run for 16-20 episodes at 60-80 mins each. Even so, I feel that 12 episodes would have been better for this piece because, as the series progressed, we were bombarded with an increasing number of boring flashbacks to earlier scenes as the characters thought about the past with wistful expressions. In one notable episode I timed it, and a full third of the episode's run time consisted of flashback montages! That did start to annoy me in the final few episodes. As such, I am giving it 3.5 stars. If they'd edited a little more tightly and trimmed down those flashbacks, it probably would have been a four.
