I found the first live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie reasonably enjoyable, so I was interested to see what they'd do with this one. I liked the look and feel of this second film, but it did fall short for me in a few aspects. I struggled to become emotionally invested in the story, and perhaps some of that was because I remembered the storyline well from the anime, so I always knew ahead of time what was going to happen next, eliminating any tension. The acting, too, felt a little strained at times. That's not to say it wasn't mostly enjoyable, and for fans of the manga/anime it's great to see your favourite characters and moments depicted. These are not films I would rush to watch again and again, but I will view the third and final movie when it releases. This one ended on such a cliff-hanger moment, there's no way you couldn't finish the story. This film gets 3.5 stars from me, but I will round up rather than down.
