I came to this anime series after having already watched The Untamed and read all the original books on which the adaptations are based; therefore, I knew completely what to expect in terms of the characters and plot. On the whole, I would say this anime delivers. Of course, the more overt gay scenes are expunged due to censorship, but the story was otherwise told well. In fact, the opening scenes of Wei Wuxian's resurrection were, I feel, explained more clearly in the anime than in the live action drama. This anime was also very visually pleasing. It was obvious a lot of time had been spent on it, and the fight scenes in particular looked excellent. There is a third, final season of 12 episodes, but that is behind a pay wall on YouTube, so I have not watched it yet. I would certainly be happy to do so if I get the chance in the future. I am giving this series (as I have watched so far) 5 stars.
