In 1936, Lin Nan Sheng, a student of the China Reconstruction Society cadre training class, is taken to Shanghai to participate in the arrest of the underground party.
I only came to watch The Rebel due to Zhu Yi Long playing the lead role, and it's taken me five months to get through it, as I only had time for a few episodes each week. However, I thought it was a very well made drama. The dialogue was believable and all the characters had interesting arcs so we could see them change and evolve over the course of the story. The acting was impeccable, especially that of Zhu Yi Long, and the piece was nicely shot and engaging to watch. Perhaps the pacing slowed a little once or twice, but mostly the action moved along well. I certainly learnt a number of new historical facts along the way too. Overall, I am giving this series 5 stars. It's one of the best Chinese series I have watched so far.
