Musical
Monty Navarro, a penniless clerk, is informed after the death of his mother that he is ninth in line to inherit the earldom of Highhurst, controlled by the wealthy D'Ysquith banking family.
A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder is a show I was already familiar with in English, so I was keen to see the Korean production. In terms of staging, it stuck close to the original. Meanwhile, the translation of the lyrics worked well. The cast were flamboyant and enthusiastic in their delivery, constantly trying to make one another laugh; although, the fact I saw the show towards the end of its final week may have contributed to that. It is an amusing musical that at times makes one think of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. It's silly, fun and highly entertaining, and this production really brought the humour to the fore. I am giving it five stars.
