Musical

Korea's first creative musical about the lives of genius poet Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine, the king of poets.

We didn't pre-book for Rimbaud but were able to get day-tickets an hour before the show. This musical appealed to me because of the subject matter, since I had previously watched an excellent play about Rimbaud and Verlaine. I had listened to a couple of the songs on YouTube before attending, but otherwise I went in without knowing what to expect. The staging was simple but effective and worked well for the intimacy of the piece. The story moved back and forth between past and present, but even with my beginner Korean abilities, I was able to follow the timeline without any problem even if I couldn't catch the meaning of every line spoken. The cast all gave good, emotional performances and overall it was great fun to watch. The music was generally good with a few standout numbers I really enjoyed. I am giving it 4.5 stars.
