Love is a Poison was a middling BL drama for me. I did like the premise behind Shiba and Haruto's relationship, but I struggled to feel any chemistry between them in the series, and the kiss scenes felt awkward and unnatural. The thing with the cacti was just weird, but luckily that disappeared after the first few episodes. The storyline was interesting and the pacing of it mostly okay; the cinematography was alright but nothing exciting; the acting was standard style for Japanese TV shows (i.e. a tad theatrical/overblown at times). This wasn't awful, and the opposites-attract theme is likely to appeal to many BL fans, but I have certainly seen other BL dramas with a better vibe between the lead actors. Therefore, I am giving this one 3.5 stars. It was enjoyable in its way but not one I'd ever rush to rewatch.
