Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes.

I think, from memory, I gave four stars to the first season of Squid Game. While I liked it, I wasn't as into it as many people were and thought there were plenty of other K-dramas out there that were better. I am happy to say my impression of the show has improved with season two. I think there are several factors involved in this. Firstly, there was no need to spend time on a lot of exposition, as we start the show already understanding what the games are about. Secondly, I thought the plot was far more exciting now it involved not only playing the games themselves but also the hunt for the game runners and the attempt to shut them down. Thirdly, I liked that we got to see more from the other side (i.e. the ones running the show) this time, and finally, I found a lot of the secondary characters more interesting to follow than those in season one. The ending was certainly a big cliffhanger, so I shall look forward to seeing the conclusion later this year. Season two gets 4.5 stars from me.
